When I mentioned Kopitiam’s karipap in my the last post, I did not realise that I have not blogged about the restaurant. Therefore, please forgive me for this little diversion from our kuih-muih episode. I believe that we can make way for this Kopitiam writing, certainly when the kitchen is responsible for the home made Malaysian kuih-muih.
Kopitiam, Soller offers Malaysian cuisine. Chinese Malaysian, to be more specific, with a few regional popular dishes, ie Thai green chicken curry. The menu caters for only a handful of dishes with a separate lunch and dinner menu. Though small, a variety of daily claypot specials are available depending on market availability and prices. vegetarian food is available.
For a different gastronomic flare, there are special banquet menus; Malay menu, Chinese menu and Thai Menu (available soon). These special banquet menus caters for a minimum of six people with advance notification.
On Saturdays, and weather permitting, Kopitiam sells Malaysian street food with varieties of kuih-muih eg. kuih bakar, kuih ketayap, kuih kodok to our ever popular karipap.
As for the wine to compliment your meal, this has been carefully thought out by my (hunky and) wine lover husband, Jeremy. A set of classier wines are also available for the banquet menu.
Situated along the busy street of Carrer de sa Luna, Soller (opposite of the modernist museum, Ca’n Prunera), stands the first Malaysian restaurant. This refers not only in Soller, nor in Mallorca, nor in the Balearic Island but in the whole of Spain.
The interior space has eight tables, separated into two dining areas. At the back of the restaurant, the patio has four tables. Although being outdoor, smoking is not allowed. Reservation is strongly recommended.
Opening times: 1200 – 1530 and 1700 – 2200. Closed on Thursdays and Sundays. Usually open on special holidays.
Comments on food is not for me to as my opinions might be slightly biased and polarised. However, I am sure that if one is going to write about the place, no one knows better than the heart and soul that drives Kopitiam, right?

It seems strange to contemplate a Malaysian restaurant on Carrer de Sa Lluna but I’m open to the idea.
The wife and I will be visting my hometown (Soller) in June so we’ll have to stop by.
I’ve enjoyed reading your blog as I am a food lover too and can’t wait to re-experience the foods I have missed so much by living abroad.
